I am Susan Layton McGarry. I was born to Julie and Paul McGarry, my mother a college grad and my father a soldier. I moved all over the US before finally settling into Hendersonville, North Carolina. I was made for travelling. I was not made to set my roots in one place. Growing up I felt restless, the town was too small, too known and the people were too small, their dreams never reaching past the city limit. Once I reached middle school I realized that I wanted to leave, I wanted to experience life in a different way than what I had grown up with. Around the same time I was coming to the realization that I was good at languages and talking to people too. The feeling only grew with me, and so when I was 16 i decided it was time. I left.I lived in Spain for a whole year, went to a Spanish school, and I lived a life completely different than the one I had before. That is how I came to know that I wanted to do that for the rest of my life, so I applied for Agnes and started the track to a double major of International Relations/Spanish. Now I know what I want to do and I am working for it. I will chase the feeling of needing to go, needing to see, needing to know and learn.
